About Me
Hailing from Dalhousie, Dr. Kiran Chadha is a woman of substance who has donned many hats throughout her professional career. She is a former bureaucrat, artist, dance expert, trekker, social worker and an anchor in many fields. She is recognized as the first person from Dalhousie to qualify for the Civil Services. She has served in various capacities in the Government of India in the Ministries of Petroleum, Commerce, Defence and Labour. She retired as Joint Secretary in the Government of India in 2010. She has attended programs abroad in Petroleum Management in Boston, USA. and Management Development in London, UK. She has travelled to more than 60 countries for professional duties and pleasure activites.
Post retirement, Dr. Kiran Chadha is engaged in writing books and has already authored 4 books since 2017. In this context, Dr. Chadha has spoken at various fora of Literary Festivals: Kasauli Literary Festival, Sharjah Literary Festival, Bhopal Literary Festival and counting...
Dr. Chadha recieved the SHRESHTA PUTRI AWARD from Governer of Himachal Pradesh in 2000. One of her major achievements includes the tough Kailash-Mansarovar trekking expedition (23 Days) in 1996 having scaled the Kailash mountain at 19600 feet without Oxygen.
As a philanthropic, Dr. Chadha is engaged in many charities and social work. The charities include scholarships for the girl child in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. She is also providing critical medical equipment to charitable hospitals in addition to donations for temples. She is running an NGO in Dalhousie by the name of Swachh Dalhousie Clean Dalhousie. Dr. Chadha's new proposals include educating a girl from Himachal for a professional degree to make her self-sufficient. This will be on a yearly basis.
